Fable 2 just about done

From GC Asia, Gamespot has interviewed Molyneux:

Peter Molyneux: It went into something called certification on Monday, but as far as I’m concerned as a designer, I was kind of locked out about a month ago.

Certification involves technical checks on Microsoft’s part, mostly to see if the game will run at all and the like. He also talks about Fable 2’s technical flaws a little, mentions that they got in all the planned features (woah, is this Lionhead?), hints that they planned for those cheat-glitches in the pub games (yeah, right), claims that he never said it was a 9/10 game (or did he). Certification means that Gold status is imminent.

Yarr.

@ E3

GameSpot, in a press release (since when do they do press releases? About something so mundane?), confirm that Fable 2 will once again be at E3, July 11th - 13th.

Fighting Gamespot: Death

Gamespot also got to sit in on a presentation with Molyneux. The demo was in Bowerstone (bandits in Bowerstone, eh?) and melee combat, ranged combat and magic are handled on three different button, but each uses just one. That’s below.

Earlier today, during a visit to the Microsoft-only Viceroy hotel in Santa Monica, we met with Lionhead Studios’ Peter Molyneux to get an updated look at Fable 2, which is currently scheduled for release “definitely in 2008″. Our last meeting with Molyneux focused on the unconditional love that you’ll feel for your pet dog in the game, but on this occasion he chose to talk about Fable 2’s one-button combat system–a presentation that we’ve been waiting for ever since the “This is NOT Fable 2″ keynote at Leipzig last year.

After drawing attention to the Fable 2’s unfinished state by pointing out some visual quirks and flaws in the version that we were seeing, Molyneux kicked off his presentation proper with talk of his desire to make a landmark game, one feature of which will be a revolutionary combat system. His goals for Fable 2 include combat that’s “so simple that anyone can play it” and that “makes you feel cool”, both of which he hopes to achieve with just one button on the Xbox 360 controller button. The X button, in case you’re wondering.
