Peter Molyneux LiveText

As reported earlier Peter Molyneux would have a live chat on Eurogamer today.

Moderating Hero: We’re told we can have one more question, so we go for - When is Fable 2 coming out?

Peter Molyneux: 2008 for sure.

Moderating Hero: Can you be any more specific?

Peter Molyneux: Late 2008. Maybe when the leaves have a slight brownish tinge - but are still on the trees, if you see what I mean.

GI.biz, Peter, Art, Wonder

That’s part two (p1) of Peter Molyneux’s interview with Gamesindustry.biz in four words for you (it’s these time-savers that make all the difference). If you’ve got time for an additional seven: Peter is pleasingly glib about silly questions.

GamesIndustry.biz: You’ve always been outspoken in your beliefs about what games have the potential to offer and where they could go. What’s your view on the question of whether games are an art form?

Peter Molyneux: Of course they are.

Why would you say that is?

Why would you say they weren’t? I’m very glib about that because this is a philosophical question. - Read on »

Gamesindustry.biz Molyneux Interview

Gamesindustry.biz has put up a interview with Peter Molyneux where he talks about everything from fable to little big planet.

GamesIndustry.biz: How would you describe your approach to Fable

Peter Molyneux: You can approach a sequel in one of two ways. You can say, ‘I’m going to give people more of what they want and make it better,’ or you can say, ‘I really want to make some huge strides forward.’

I’ve always said there will be three really big surprises in Fable 2, one of which I spoke about at GDC this year - the story and how we’re going to tell it. The second one is about combat - what it is, how it’s exciting and why it’s a different combat system from what’s been done before.

It’s really about trying to revolutionise something that has been standard - for us, anyway - for decades. What does it feel like to hold a sword, to fire a gun, to use magic, and how can I make that feel much more exciting than it ever has before?

Creative guys

CVG have an interview with Peter Molyneux about some stuff. He’s one of the four creative minds on the planet.

… we find out how the Lionhead boss has adjusted to life under the Xbox banner, his memories and regrets from the earlier days and just what it’s like working on the Xbox 360’s flasgship title of 2008.

Canaljuegos also want to know things

Canaljuegos got an interview with Molyneux around the time of the 10-year anniversary and has published it just now. I’m unsure how much clearer Molyneux could be about online stuff without actually announcing it; the Secret Game has still not turned into Dimitri or BC and, he says, Microsoft is awesome. Worth reading.

Lionhead’s Biggest Challenge

GamesIndustry.biz has posted the second part of the their big interview with Peter Molyneux, Mark Webley and Tim Rance.

GamesIndustry.biz: What made you accept the offer from Microsoft, as opposed to the others that came in?

PM: They simply told us that they wanted us to be unbelievably creative and inventive, and they wanted to give us an environment where we could create great games. And that really is the way it’s worked out.

We worked out what we wanted to be within Microsoft, and our mission statement is really two things - to create landmark games that the world respects, and to be the most professional studio within Microsoft Game Studios. And that’s the dream, and I think we’re doing quite well with that.

IGN Q&As M

IGN got a nice question-and-answer interview with Molyneux to chase up the melee combat, love and death. There’s even a bit of hinting about magic, and he mentions that when you go down, any “uncollected experience will be lost”. And of course he refuses to rule multiplayer out. - Read on »

Eurogamer doesn’t know what to ask

Eurogamer is meeting Molyneux at the Develop conference tomorrow for “tea, chat and maybe more“. If you want to actually be there and ask him your question, tell Eurogamer what you want to ask and you might get to do it.

The Eurogamer TV crew will be catching up with Peter Molyneux for tea, chat and maybe more this Thursday at the Develop Conference in Brighton, and we’re giving you the opportunity to interview the Fable creator as he sweats under the glare of our spotlight.

So if you have a burning question you’d like to ask the Britsoft legend behind the likes of Populous, Theme Park, The Movies, Black & White and the forthcoming Fable 2, now’s your chance.

All you have to do is join up to the Eurogamer TV Show: Ask The Developer Group on Eurogamers, our warm and cosy Internet social club, and post your poser. We’ll pick the best (and least libellous) and put them to the Lionhead boss on Thursday.

If your question is picked, your name will appear in lights and you’ll see Molyneux’s response in an upcoming Episode of The Eurogamer TV Show.
