Fable 2 going Tamagotchi

Former High Karma members were invited to Lionhead Studios a couple of days ago. During which time, they were let in on some hidden secrets and the likes that regular members dream about at night.

Most of which they discovered was fairly old, MJLover mentioned that there were some fancy details that were recently put in, but sadly he wasn’t allowed to say much about it.

So what was revealed?

Well, as Derobrash mentioned, LH are experimenting with a Tamagotchi device of sorts that will allow you to train your dog even away from your xBox. You’ll then be able to upload the dog you have on your Tamagotchi up to your xbox, and if you’ve done much training, you’ll have a more trained dog on your game.

What Is Dimitri ?

Mortalitis_Infinitas has written an article about dimitri and if really still is in development or if the secret game that lionhead are working on is a whole new game that they haven’t talked about yet.

I think I’ve found something rather…intriguing, to say the least…

We’ve all heard about Dimitri, and we’ve all heard that Lionhead is currently working on two games right now. And yes, we’ve all crossed our fingers that this second title might be Dimitri. Well, by way of a hint in a video diary (check them all out here), I think I’ve found a rather substantial piece of the puzzle. It’s looking more and more like Lionhead is indeed working on Dimitri (Please keep in mind, however, this is mere speculation from a fan. As always, don’t believe it until Lionhead confirms it.)

But first, to get those who aren’t familiar with the project up to speed. Dimitri was first heard of in May, 2001 when Peter mentioned it at that year’s E3. But nothing too official has been mentioned since then.

Lionhead Video Diary 4

Fable 2 in EGM Magazine

There’s an small article in the new EGM Magazine about fable 2.

Microsoft game studios - fall 2008

The Agenda: Fable 2 may have a slight image problem when it comes to family values- the action-role-playing game just happens to allow polygomy, unprotected sex, and a deep, meaningful relationship with one’s dog. this sequel, like the first fable, places you in control of a hero who grows from young child through old age.

You’ll visit the usual cities and towns, castles and dungeons. But unlike one dimensional hack-n-slash adventures, in fable, your actions have noticeable consequences in the game world. Polygamists, for instance, had better keep thir various families seperate from-and oblivious of-each other, or divorce (and a ruined reputation) is inevitable.

As reported earlier Peter Molyneux would have a live chat on Eurogamer today.

Moderating Hero: We’re told we can have one more question, so we go for - When is Fable 2 coming out?

Peter Molyneux: 2008 for sure.

Moderating Hero: Can you be any more specific?

Peter Molyneux: Late 2008. Maybe when the leaves have a slight brownish tinge - but are still on the trees, if you see what I mean.

Gamesindustry.biz Molyneux Interview

Gamesindustry.biz has put up a interview with Peter Molyneux where he talks about everything from fable to little big planet.

GamesIndustry.biz: How would you describe your approach to Fable

Peter Molyneux: You can approach a sequel in one of two ways. You can say, ‘I’m going to give people more of what they want and make it better,’ or you can say, ‘I really want to make some huge strides forward.’

I’ve always said there will be three really big surprises in Fable 2, one of which I spoke about at GDC this year - the story and how we’re going to tell it. The second one is about combat - what it is, how it’s exciting and why it’s a different combat system from what’s been done before.

It’s really about trying to revolutionise something that has been standard - for us, anyway - for decades. What does it feel like to hold a sword, to fire a gun, to use magic, and how can I make that feel much more exciting than it ever has before?

PopCultureShock TV Peter Molyneux Video

Peter Molyneux is from the old guard. As a designer of videogames for over 20 years, he’s in a league of few and has a pedigree of innovation. That track record has seen him take huge risks all for the sake of pushing the art form. We spoke to Peter recently about Fable 2 as well as some of his previous works, Fable and Black & White, to find out exactly how his latest work is the culmination of all he has done before. To hear a candid talk on topics including but not limited to what happened with Fable and how he and his team look to rectify that with Fable 2, look no further.

Lionhead wants games to be equal to movies and TV

Fable 2 staging director Georg Backer has talked with eurogamer about lionheads wish to make games equal to movies and tv.

We want to achieve that games are an equal choice of entertainment as movies and TV are,” said Backer - delivering Lionhead’s GCDC speech instead of Peter Molyneux, who had to pull out. He went on to reveal that the developer had sought counsel from film editors, fighting specialists and professional wrestlers, among others, to help create a unique combat system that delivered on the developer’s intent.
