As Microsoft releases XNA 2.0, it also announces a pre-Dream-Build-Play challenge: the Silicon Minds Warm-Up Challenge. D-B-P is Microsoft’s attempt to get more indie development on the Xbox and identify some new talent; Silicon Minds is Peter Molyneux’s idea to lure some more AI talent to Lionhead. Silicon Minds’ registration starts tomorrow, and winners of that challenge get an internship at Microsoft Research, Rare or Lionhead, as well as going on into the main Dream-Build-Play challenge.
Artificial intelligence is so important to the games we make at Lionhead Studios, and we are very excited to see what the community can come up with in this Warm-Up Challenge to Dream-Build-Play 2008. We are always on the lookout for the best talent and believe that XNA Game Studio 2.0 will be a great platform for contestants to showcase their skills on. Peter Molyneux
