The Movies is what’s wrong with America

boobies the moviesRob Ashton reports on Easter Eggs in The Movies. Following a tipoff by certain radical elements of the The Movies society, Mr. Ashton investigated and found gratuitous porn embedded into the textures of many commonly used sets, Suburban Diner and Saloon Bedroom included. Cunningly hidden to escape detection by moral authorities such as the ESRB, these textures are worse than communism.

Talk to Peter

This Friday, Peter Molyneux will be available to chat on Eurogamer’s Livetext from 3pm (for an indefinite amount of time [yay]). People will get to submit questions which the Eurogamer guys then moderate and potentially pass on to Peter to answer, and even irreverent questions seem permissible, even encouraged. Peter’s comment:

To get tough and frank questions from gamers is what I am looking forward to this Friday.

[Update] Chat’s happened. It was well good.

Ten Years Gone

Kotaku review an age-old interview Peter Molyneux and Demis Hassabis (worked on B&W’s AI, moved on to found Elixir in ‘98) did back in ‘97. The best quote out of the lot:

Peter Molyneux: Lionhead will only work on one title at a time, and it will never get bigger that 20 people ( We are currently 8 people).

Ah well, you live and you learn. To be fair, he had a some good insights even back then. The interview’s an interesting blast from the past.

PM: I can’t imagine my life without me creating cool products. I’d like to think that in five years time I’d get one that I was truly happy with.

The Movies Editor 1.0

Dero’s just released version 1.0 of The Movies Editor (some crazy chaps have begun calling it ngMED) on Directors Cut Modding Foundry. Should be really rather useful for anyone wanting to mod The Movies.

Retro Lionhead on 360?

Kikizo have reported on a CVG acticle about the next xbox 360 dashboard update, which will apparently allow the download of several original Xbox titles, Fable being one of them. [Shacknews reports on some glitches.]

MS first-party title cancelled?

According to GameGuru.in, a chap called Shane from Electronic Gaming Monthly says that a Microsoft first-party title sounds like it’s been cancelled. Not exactly definite-sounding, but a first-party title could be Fable 2.

“Shane [Bettenhausen - Ed]: I won’t go into exacting detail because these rumors [sic] haven’t been confirmed but they’re definitely swirling around. They’re probably going to break next week. So a preview of what you may be seeing next week. A big Microsoft first-party title that has been in the works for a very long time that people are very excited for, sounds like it’s being canceled. And a Microsoft executive who’s pretty high up, who’s been a voice for the company, sounds like he’s on the way out.”

(Shane is this chap from EGM, and that all we need to know about him)

Fable 2 is also in rigorous development, with FF-XIII hitting the PS3 next year Microsoft would be really dumb enough to pull the plugs on this one. Lionhead has already gone ahead to deny these rumors [sic, jeeeez] so well that kills it.

So, well, that’s good then. No other signs of this rumour, no signs of Lionhead’s denial. Ah well. Apparently next week will put us out of our misery (or slight melancholy if you’re sensible).

Update Apparent source is the 11/09/07 1up podcast. Rare actively deny that their game is cancelled. … And so do Lionhead. It’s not Fable 2.

Loinheadtwopointohhhhhh

Latest stories suggest there’s chaos at the old Loinhead website. Our Senior Correspondent is now at the old Loinhead website; Orcid, can you tell us what’s going on there?

fel, there’s chaos!

Fable 2 Childsplay Stuff

As announced on the Lionhead blog, Lionhead are donating a bunch of mostly Fable 2-related stuff to be auctioned away at a fancy dinner for Child’s Play, the charity from Penny Arcade that gives toys to sickly kids in hospitals. Notably, to be auctioned off is some signed underwear (signed, of course, by Peter), having your name in Fable 2 and some Fable/Fable 2 t-shirts and posters.
