Lionhead is still hiring, including jobs for their Fable team! This means their already big team of 70 is going to be expanded still. There’s some useful info from this, mostly that LH are now seriously adding content to the world. They need scripters, gameplay engineers and artists right now. They use LUA for scripting and need someone with “film making skills” (cutscenes?).

Graduate Gameplay Engineers/Scripters - Fixed Term Contract
Gameplay Engineers will join the existing Fable 2 scripting team. Lionhead use LUA for gameplay scripts and a programming background is ideal. These roles could be ideal for programming graduates with a passion for game development and could be a great first job in the industry. To apply you will need to be both creative and logical and an experienced script writer or gameplay programmer.

Experienced Gameplay Engineers / Scripters x 3
Essential Experiences:
Coding background, with 2+ years in the industry, both a logical mind and a creative side, and an interest in this genre of game.
An advantage: C++ or lua experience, any scriptwriting/story writing skills (Dialogue etc), any film making skills, camera work and shot selection and familiarity with world building tools.

Standard Gameplay Scripters x 6
Essential Experiences: some coding background, preferably either a degree in a related subject, or a year or so in the industry, both a logical mind and a creative side and an interest in this genre of game.
An advantage: C++ or lua experience, any scriptwriting/story writing skills (Dialogue etc), any film making skills, camera work and shot selection and familiarity with world building tools.

Experienced XSI Animator - Permanent - Fable 2 team

  • Have extensive experience and proven ability in games industry working on multiple high quality titles or made significant contributions to major creative projects in related industries.
  • Can come onto a team and be immediately productive, adding value beyond pure content creation.
  • Have extensive practical knowledge of 3D (Max, Maya or (preferably) Softimage XSI) software.
  • Should have excellent creative skills.
  • Should be an inspiration and knowledge base to other animators.

Fixed Term Animators x 6

  • Worked on at least one successful game title or significant project in related industry.
  • Extensive practical knowledge of 3D (Max, Maya or (preferably) Softimage XSI) software or traditional animation background.
  • Should have demonstrably good creative skills (show-reel and portfolio)

Standard Fixed Term Particle FX Artist
The Fable 2 team require an artist to work on Lionheads custom particle editor and engine. This role will require both 2d and 3d art skills, some good technical experience and a good eye for special effects.

Experienced Fixed Term Character Artists
Lionhead are looking for experienced character artists to join the character team to continue building and improving on the current range of character types as well as clothing and accessories. These artists should have good 3d skills and be adaptable to follow a set style under consistent direction.

The Fable 2 team require artists who are experienced and with a flair for architecture and prop work. These artists would need to be skilled in texturing and 3d modeling who can handle work ranging from the smallest lamp to the largest temple as well as being able to work in a team and take style direction.
